Jing
River Acupuncture, Oxford, MA
J. Ellen Thompson received her Masters degree in Acupuncture from the
New England School of Acupuncture where she studied Traditional Chinese
acupuncture and herbal medicine. She is certified by the National Commission
for Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is
licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. Additionally, she is
certified as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist by the National
Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA).
In her Traditional Chinese acupuncture and herbal medicine practice,
J. Ellen seeks to understand the uniqueness of each individual
so that treatment is aimed at the whole person rather than simply
a part of the body. Based on one’s particular pattern, thin,
solid, sterile, stainless steel needles are inserted into acupuncture
points on the body to adjust and harmonize the body’s energy.
Treatments may incorporate Chinese herbal remedies, dietary and
exercise recommendations and tui na (Chinese massage therapy).
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a healing art appropriate
for:
• Infections such as
colds and flu, bronchitis, sinusitis and hepatitis;
• Dermatological conditions such as eczema,
herpes, acne, urticaria;
• Internal disorders including allergies,
asthma, constipation, colitis, diarrhea, fatigue, chronic pain, hypertension,
hemorrhoids, insomnia, anxiety, ulcers;
• Musculo-skeletal and Neurologic conditions
like arthritis, back and joint pain, sciatica, tendonitis, sprains, neck stiffness,
facial paralysis, neuralgia, headaches, migraines, dizziness;
• Genito-Urinary and Reproductive disorders such
as infertility, impotence, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual irregularities, menopausal
symptoms, vaginitis and morning sickness.
Acupuncture has also been used
as an adjunct therapy for weight management, smoking cessation
and stress reduction.
J. Ellen has worked in public health for more than twenty years.
At Jing River Acupuncture, she provides Traditional Chinese treatment
of specific disorders as well as guidance in health promotion,
disease prevention and the behavior change process. It is her honor
and privilege to work with you.
